A joyful, play-centred beginning to your daughter's learning journey.

Rosebuds Pre-Primary (Ages 3–5)

There is something truly special about the moment a little girl walks through the Rosebuds gate for the first time. Her eyes widen. Her hand loosens from yours. She is ready.

Set on our secure Craighall Park campus, Rosebuds Pre-Primary is a warm, beautifully designed home-away-from-home for girls aged 3 to 5. With sunny open classrooms, an expansive private garden, and a community rooted in faith and love, this is a place where your daughter is not just welcomed, she is known.

Our approach draws on the wisdom of Jean Piaget and the Reggio Emilia philosophy: that children are natural scientists, artists and storytellers. We follow their lead. Through hands-on exploration, experimentation, self-expression and imaginative play, girls build the foundations for a lifetime of curious, confident learning.

At Rosebuds, every child is seen, every child is heard, and every child is loved.

Learning Through Play

At this age, the most important thing a child can do is play, and at Rosebuds, we take play very seriously.

Our Reggio-inspired curriculum is built around what children do best: explore, experiment, question and discover. Whether girls are elbow-deep in the Mud Kitchen, splashing in the water play area, navigating the balancing pathways, or making music outdoors, every experience is purposefully designed to strengthen early literacy, numeracy, memory, self-control and flexible thinking.

Play here is never idle. It is how your daughter begins to understand herself, her friends, and the wonderful world she has been placed in.

Little bodies need to move … and at Rosebuds, they do.

Movement, Confidence & Wellbeing

Every day includes an age-appropriate movement programme focused on the development of the whole body. Girls enjoy free play in our open-plan classrooms, outdoor nature exploration, and activities designed to develop vestibular, proprioceptive, balancing and spatial awareness. Throughout the day, numerous provocations are thoughtfully arranged to spark curiosity, inquiry and delight.

These experiences build more than physical fitness. They build confidence, resilience, and a joyful relationship with one's own body that lasts a lifetime.

Foundations for School Readiness

School readiness at Rosebuds isn’t about worksheets, it grows naturally from rich, meaningful play and guided discovery.

Early literacy, pre-writing, pre-reading and pre-mathematics skills are woven into every day. To support this, we use Numicon for concrete mathematical understanding, the Time2Read programme for age-appropriate literacy development, and a range of hands-on activities that bring learning to life. We also invest deeply in executive functioning such as memory, focus, emotional regulation and flexible thinking, because these are the skills that will carry your daughter far beyond Grade 0.

Our child-centred approach means every girl progresses at her own pace, supported, encouraged and truly known by her teachers.

Emotional, Social & Spiritual Growth

A healthy sense of self is at the heart of everything we do.

At Rosebuds, we nurture each child’s emotional well-being, confidence and self-esteem, not as an afterthought, but as our first priority. We teach girls to recognise their own feelings, to be kind to one another, and to celebrate what makes each of them uniquely and wonderfully made. We also teach them to celebrate the girl sitting next to them, because she, too, is wonderfully made. Empathy, compassion and age-appropriate spiritual development, rooted in our Mercy values, are woven through every interaction and every day.

Our environment is gently designed and well regulated. It is a safe harbour where girls can explore, express themselves freely, and grow into who they are meant to be.

Specialist Support When Needed

We believe every child deserves to flourish, and sometimes that means a little extra support. We have qualified therapists on site who offer targeted intervention for girls who may benefit from additional guidance. Teachers and therapists work closely together, ensuring consistent, caring support that flows seamlessly between the classroom and each therapy session.

She is uniquely and wonderfully made - and here, she will know it.

A Seamless Journey to Junior Primary

Rosebuds is the beginning of a St Teresa’s story; it is not a separate chapter.

The values, the relationships, and the deep sense of belonging your daughter builds in Rosebuds carry her gently and confidently into Grades 0 and beyond. Shared teaching approaches and warm communication between our teachers ensure that this transition is never a leap into the unknown, but a natural, joyful next step.

Rosie sisters support one another.

Where Learning Feels Joyful

At Rosebuds, play is the heart of learning, and love is the heart of everything else.

We inspire curiosity, creativity and a genuine love for learning, because when a child feels truly safe, seen and celebrated, she flourishes. And a child who flourishes here will flourish everywhere.
