Foundation Phase Principal Welcome
It is my pleasure to welcome you to St Teresa’s School website; thank you for your interest in our school.
St Teresa’s Foundation Phase is situated in the leafy suburb of Craighall Park. It is a Catholic school, welcoming girls of all faiths. It is a happy place filled with busy, cheerful and content young girls. Our children excel in this nurturing environment, which sees each child as special in her own unique way. The relationship between staff and children is one of mutual respect and compassion.
Catherine McAuley said “It is not sufficient that Jesus Christ be formed in us – He must be recognised in our conduct.” As a Catholic Mercy school, we start each day together with a Christian message, prayers and a song of praise. This sets the tone for the day. Our Mercy Ethos permeates our whole school day. As we strive to always do our best, to reach our full potential, we do this in a caring way, mindful of the needs of others. The girls learn Christian values of living harmoniously — give and take, cooperation, getting along with people, fair play and honesty.
We aim to develop skills and enjoyment in a wide variety of physical activities because we believe that it is vital to balance academic and physical pursuits, so that the children gain confidence, self-discipline and learn the value of team spirit, as well as benefiting their health.
Our staff is committed to helping the girls to discover and develop their God-given talents. Success in one area leads to a boost in confidence elsewhere and this helps our pupils feel secure enough to explore and take risks. We are ever aware that we are educating the whole child, mind, body and soul. Our staff works together enthusiastically, keeping abreast of the latest education trends to develop the girls’ skills and knowledge, enabling them to deal with the challenges in education and life that lie ahead.
I invite you to contact us, to visit and see the school, to experience classes in action and to meet the teachers. I look forward to the opportunity to greet you on our campus in the near future.
